Makeup that comes from the palette
Your palette's accents are your lipstick and blush range; its base neutrals are your eye shadow and liner. Warm colouring flatters coral, peach, brick and bronze; cool colouring flatters rose, berry, plum and taupe. Depth matters as much as temperature: light colouring wants sheer, softened shades, deep colouring can carry saturated ones. When in doubt, choose a shade that is a deeper version of a colour already in your face.
Hair colour without fighting your skin
Stay within two levels of your natural depth and on your side of the temperature line and almost any change works. Cross the line — ash on warm skin, gold on cool — and the face goes grey or sallow no matter how good the cut. The section on hair colouring goes deeper.
Glasses, jewellery and nails
Frames read as a facial feature: tortoiseshell and warm metals on warm colouring, black, grey and silver on cool, and a frame contrast that matches your own — bold frames for high contrast, fine ones for low. No. One lipstick and one blush in the right temperature do more than a full routine in the wrong one. Start with the two products you already wear and match them to your palette.
Which metal suits me, gold or silver?
Warm undertones usually glow next to gold and brass; cool undertones next to silver and white gold. Neutral colouring can wear both — choose by the depth of the piece and the contrast of your face.
